Areas of Expertise
David's practice covers all aspects of employment law, both contentious and non-contentious. He
is a member of the Employment Lawyers' Association and the London Chamber of Commerce and
Industry's Skills and Employment Forum, sitting on a number of their Legislative and Policy
sub-committees coordinating responses on proposed new legislation.
Summary of Experience
David acts primarily for companies, although he has also undertaken work for a number of senior
executives, mostly from the banking sector. Clients range from international technology companies,
global consultancies, national and international charities, to sports organisations and clubs. The
work undertaken covers the whole breadth of employment issues, from drafting company policy,
procedures and employment documentations, through day-to-day disciplinary and grievance matters,
discrimination and equality issues and enforcing post termination obligations of employees, to
large scale reorganisations, consultation issues, and the employment aspects of corporate
acquisitions, disposals, and transfers of undertakings.
David joined Wedlake Bell in 1997 having previously been a solicitor with British
Telecommunications plc, and became a partner in 2001 and heads the Employment Team.
David has presented a number of training videos on new areas of employment law, and has spoken
at conferences both in the UK and abroad. He has recently been appointed to write a chapter on
stress in the workplace for Tolley's Employment Law.
